WELCOME TO THE INDIECADE
I made this page as a way to reccomend fun and (IMO) underrated and overlooked Indie games that I think a lot of people would gat some enjoyment out of!!!
I think my love of indie games came from three things: Usually being too broke to buy AAA games, Xbox Game Pass (Which is funny seeing as they're now trying to squander that-), and the days of finding flash games that still stick with me to this day!
As such, when I'm feeling the desire to experince something new, I'll often snoop around the free section of Steam or look at channels like Alpha Beta Gamer for something new!! Now I want to share my experinces with these games and encourage anyone reading this to give these games a shot!!!
Blanksword | Illusion Carnival
10/9/25: BLANKSWORD
The game that inspired me to make this page in the first place! As of writting this, this game is $9,797 off from it's funding goal on Kickstarter with only 7 days left to go!!!
I had stumbled across Blanksword back in Febuary while on Tumblr! A rougelike RPG about an angel trying to piece his brain back together was a really interseting premise! And a few months later, I discovered that this game had a demo up on Steam!
Sorry... Did I say demo? What I meant to say was SAMPLE PLATTER! Because this demo has so much packed in it, there are things me and my friends are still discovering about it even after beating it for the first time!
This game has such a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, all the music in it is such an earworm, the game can go from etheral to downright fear inducing at the drop of a dime, all the designs from your character, Blank, the NPCs, and Eneimes ooze with personallity and fun and the RPG elements are fun to boot!!! I can't remember the last time I got so hooked on a game off of a demo alone and this is all without getting into spoilers for the demo itself!!!
I may not be able to help fund the game myself, but what I lack in monetary support I want to make up for in word of mouth!!! So please!!! If you are reading this and have the means to do so, please help Blanksword cross its finish line and check out the demo!!! This is a game I want NO ONE to miss!!!
10/10/25: Illusion Carnival
Ever since I fell in love with Wonderlab back in 2020, (geez... 5 years already...) I've been looking for media that capture the some sort of feeling I felt when reading it for the first time! While most including myself would simply call the style of the comic creepy-cute, I feel like a turm to better descirbe it would be "Whisical Horror" or Whimsy-Horror for short! Wonderlab never tried to hide it horrors under a cutey veener, it would proudlydisplay its horror in a way that almost felt, magical! Like a grim futuristic fairytale! A natural choice given it and Project Moon's as a whole's tendancy to make monsters out of popular fairytales! Not to mention the obvous inspreation of Alice in WonderLAND!
This is all to say that's what drew me to today's game, Illusion Carnival!
Illusion Carnival is a game that, as of writting , is sill in devlopment with it's first chapter being free on Steam! A self-described Dark Fairytale, you play as a being made of paper in the colorful lands of Confettia! An eternal carnival in the afterlife now seemingly overun by monsters that wish to break your spirit! (and maybe eat you?) Along the way, you'll encounter a vibrant cast of characters, solve many a puzzle, and be caught in some very tense moments! All to the sound of a wonderful soundtrack that makes you feel as you are one with a frantic performance!!! With chapter one being around a good hour I'd say, this taste will be enough to make you beg for more!
As of writting, there's no word on when the full game will be out! But it is still being worked on and I'll update here with my thoughts on the full experince once it does drop!!! So, give this game a look and see its magic for yourself!!!
